The CMIP Data Request Task Team is seeking for authors and reviewers for a set of theme papers which will develop a collection of harmonised variables on which to build the CMIP7 data request.
Authors and reviewers are being sought for the thematic papers:
- Ocean & sea-ice (Open, closes 01 March 2024)
- Atmosphere (Open, closes 08 March 2024)
- Earth system (Open, closes 08 March 2024)
- Land & land-ice (Open, closes 08 March 2024)
Applicants are encouraged to first read the information about the variable selection process of the harmonised thematic variables.

School and Workshop on Polar Climates: Theoretical, Observational and Modelling Advances | (smr 3960)
Date: 22nd July 2024 - 31st July 2024
Location: Kastler Lecture Hall (AGH), ICTP, Strada Costiera, 11, I - 34151 Trieste, Italy
In an effort to equip participants with foundational knowledge essential for navigating the complexities of polar climate dynamics, the International School on Polar Climates: Theoretical, Observational, and Modeling Advances (smr 3960) is set to kick off on July 22nd. With a comprehensive curriculum designed to explore the interactions between the cryosphere, ocean, and atmosphere within both the Arctic and Antarctic realms, this pioneering educational initiative promises to illuminate key similarities and disparities between these regions, fostering a deeper understanding of the ongoing climatic shifts.

Workshop on the Role of Sea Ice and its Variability in the Climate System | (smr 4021)
Date: 29th July 2024 - 31st July 2024
Location: Kastler Lecture Hall (AGH), ICTP, Strada Costiera, 11, I - 34151 Trieste, Italy
Following the enlightening insights gained from the School, the stage will be set for a focused exploration into the pivotal role of sea ice amidst evolving climate dynamics. From July 29th to July 31st, the Workshop on the Role of Sea Ice and its Variability in the Climate System (smr 4021) will take center stage, offering participants a deeper dive into the influences of sea ice on radiative fluxes, freshwater transfer, and global climate patterns. Through keynote presentations, group discussions, and poster presentations, attendees will scrutinize recent advances in understanding sea ice variability across both hemispheres, paving the way for informed strategies to address the challenges posed by a changing climate.
