Photo of WMO building In the context of the reform of Constituent Bodies of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO, one of the three co-sponsors of WCRP), the Organization is calling for applications for its proposed Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP). The deadline for nominations and self-nominations, to be addressed to the WMO Secretariat, is 31 May 2019, 24:00 CET.

The future SAP would be the scientific advisory body of the Organization, providing forward-looking strategic advice to Congress and to the Executive Council on matters concerning WMO research strategies to support the evolution of its mandate in weather, climate, water and related environmental and social sciences. In order to provide critical advice on new areas in which new technological and scientific advancement would lead to new applications for the benefit of WMO Members, SAP membership shall encompass world-leading key expertise connecting with different scientific and technological sectors.

The selection of names (short list) to be proposed to the Executive Council and to be appointed as Panel members will be prepared by the WMO Secretariat in consultation with the WMO President and Vice-President.

Details on the (self-)nomination process are available from the WMO homepage at https://public.wmo.int/en/events/events-of-interest/call-scientific-advisory-panel .
