Krishnan RAGHAVAN

Dr. Krishnan Raghavan was appointed as a member of the WCRP Joint Scientific Committee (JSC) in 2019. 

Krishnan Raghavan specializes in climate modeling studies on scientific issues relating to the dynamics and variability of the Asian monsoon, climate change, impacts on monsoon precipitation extremes, phenomenon of monsoon-breaks and droughts. Currently, he is leading the Centre for Climate Change Research (CCCR) at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune, and is involved in developing in-house capability in Earth System Modeling for addressing the science of climate change. Krishnan carried out Ph.D. research in Atmospheric Sciences at the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad and obtained a Ph.D. degree from the University of Pune in 1994. He has published, so far, more than 100 scientific articles and papers, supervised 11 Ph.D. degrees and 6 Masters (M.Sc/M.Tech) dissertations. He offers training lectures in geophysical fluid dynamics and atmospheric science. He has worked at the following national and international research institutes:
