Anna Sörensson was appointed as a member of the WCRP Joint Scientific Committee (JSC) starting 1 January 2025.

She is the focal point of the Argentinean Hub of My Climate Risk and member of the Scientific Steering Group of My Climate Risk as well as of the Scientific Steering Committee of the Scenario Model Intercomparison Project.  Within WCRP she has previously served as a member of the GEWEX Hydroclimatological Panel.

Anna holds a Master of Science in Physics from the University of Linköping , Sweden and a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a senior researcher of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council of Argentina based at the University of Buenos Aires.  Her research focus on the interactions between soil, vegetation, open water surfaces and atmosphere over the La Plata Basin and the Argentinean Pampas. She strives to integrate her work in interdisciplinary collaborations with anthropologists, social scientists, agronomists and architects.

Between 2012 and 2015, Anna coordinated the Observation and Modelling work package of Argentina´s  Third National Comunication of Climate Change to the UNFCCC. During the IPCC 6th Assessment cycle she was a Coordinating Lead Author of the Working Group 1 chapter “Linking global to regional climate change. She was also a member of the Core Writing Team of the Synthesis Report. She is a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the International Committee on New Integrated Climate Change Assessment Scenarios (ICONICS).
