General Information and Publication

Individuals who wish to present their work at the WCRP Open Science Conference are encouraged to submit an abstract of their presentation for review and selection by the Programme Committee. Abstract Submissions will be used to select presentations for poster and oral sessions. The selected abstracts will be posted on the conference website. Poster sessions will be the main form of presentation during the conference. The number of oral presentations is limited and only a selected number of talks will be chosen for the three parallel sessions planned for each day.

Submission Instructions

Before submitting your abstract, you have to pay a fee of US$25 per abstract (NOT refundable). Click here to access the online Abstract Payment. You will be asked to set up a user account with username and password of your choice. Please use your email address as your username and select an easy to remember password.

If you are paying by cheque, payments should be made to University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR), UCAR is a non-profit corporation. Cheques in US dollars should be sent to:

UCAR must receive the cheque before you will be allowed to submit your abstract. You will be notified by email as soon as your payment has been processed. If you have a problem submitting your abstract fee, please contact Cathy Stephens (cstephens@usclivar.org).

After paying the abstract fee(s), click here to access the online Abstract Submission. You will need to enter the username and password that you previously set up during the abstract payment process.

The abstract text should not exceed 3000 characters (without space) and should not contain figures or tables. Please do not copy and paste your abstract text from programs like Microsoft Word, or other rich-text editing programs. If you must copy and paste, please first paste into Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac) then re-copy from there.

Submitting Posters for Poster Clusters

Posters in a cluster can be submitted at any time during the online abstract submission, but every poster title in the cluster must begin with 3-4 identical words (to allow posters in the cluster to be grouped together in the abstract tracking system).

During the abstract submission process, please select “Poster Cluster” as a keyword

Poster Clusters must identify a chair to serve as a point of contact. Please send to the abstract chair (WCRPabstractinfo@joss.ucar.edu) the chair’s contact info, the title of the Poster Cluster, and a two-sentence description of the poster cluster.
